Chewy’s September Surprise
For the month of September, Chewy sent us Nature’s Variety Raw Boost Mixers Chicken Recipe Freeze-Dried Dog Food Topper by Instinct.
The ingredients include Chicken (including Ground Chicken Bone), Chicken Liver, Pumpkinseeds, Carrots, Apples, Butternut Squash, Turkey Liver, Turkey Heart, Ground Flaxseed, Montmorillonite Clay, Dried Kelp, Broccoli, Mixed Tocopherols, Apple Cider Vinegar, Salmon Oil, Rosemary Extract, Blueberries and Dried Chicory Root.
As per the company, the whole-food ingredients are gently freeze-dried to remove the moisture, which seals in all that flavor and health-boosting nutrients. And it all works to support proper digestion, a healthy coat and skin, and energy and vitality with the finest ingredients from around the world.
This month we had two guests stay with us, Lucy and Daisy both Cavaliers. As always Ginger was open to sharing her new items from Chewy with our two guests.
Upon opening the bag I noticed that the bits were small so these could also be used as training treats. Because they are freeze-dried they are easy to crumble, if you crumble them they turn will turn into a powdery mixture.
I first gave them the topper as a treat. Ginger and Daisy seemed to enjoy them, Lucy was not a fan. Once it was time for dinner I sprinkled a few bits on their food. I like to use different types of toppers on Ginger’s food to add variety and texture to her meals. Ginger and Daisy ate them but Lucy left them all behind, she obviously was not a fan. Not sure why that is, but she didn’t seem to care for them.
Overall, I thought they were okay. Although the dogs ate them I found their texture to be weird and left a powdery residue. (You can see the photo above) Also, the packaging says Made in the USA, with the finest ingredients from around the world. Not sure what that means, but I prefer ingredients coming from the US.
