Do You Know About CareCredit?

Last year I had a guest writer write about the importance of Pet Insurance. Some folks may find that it’s important, others may not. I know some people who have opted not to purchase pet insurance, when I asked them why, they just felt that there were too many sicknesses not being covered due to it being genetic, and/or the breed was predisposed to it.

Other people I spoke to have instead opted to open up a bank account for their pet, they deposit money and save in case an emergency was to occur.

I wanted to share with you a credit card that I have found to be extremely helpful. Whether you have pet insurance or a savings account for your pet this card will be very beneficial in case an emergency.  As pet owners, we know that these things can add up to the thousands, this card can be used to pay the difference if an amount was not to be covered..

I have personally used this card and use it for all of Ginger’s health expenses.  The only caveat is that you have to go to a Veterinarian office that accepts it.  I have been very fortunate that Ginger’s Vet, Red Bank Animal Hospital and Long Island Vet Specialists are all participants.

I put all her health expenses on this card and it has helped tremendously. They offer promotional offers in which you can go up to six months or more without having to pay interest. A lot of it depends on the amount that you spend. This is great because it allows you to pay off your balance much quicker.

The card is called “CareCredit”  Below is some more information from the Care Credit website.

CareCredit is different from a regular credit card.   You can use it to pay for out-of-pocket expenses not covered by medical insurance, and special financing options are available that you may not be able to get with other cards.

Pay for health, and wellness care at over 200,000 enrolled providers across the nation. Once you’ve applied, you can use it again and again at any location that accepts CareCredit.

With shorter term financing options of 6, 12, 18 or 24 months no interest is charged on purchases of $200 or more when you make the minimum monthly payments and pay the full amount due by the end of the promotional period. If you do not, interest is charged from the original purchase date.*  *Subject to credit approval. Details and Terms

So as stated above you can save a ton of money not having to pay for interest. Another plus is that the card can be used at participating doctors, specialists, and dentists not just Vets..  The website has a feature that allows you to search for participating providers.  If you do not see your provider you can tell your Vets office about it, they may be open to enrolling.  It doesn’t hurt to ask!

Lastly, I am in no way affiliated with CareCredit, I just want to share my experience as I think it’s a great way to save on your pet’s health expenses and could help others especially when it comes to an emergency.
